Just bought a camera a few weeks back. Quickly tested it out in different modes and most of them are very satsifying! Vibrant color reproduction and a 6X optical zoom perfect for telephoto shots. Mortuary Visit

Hmmm today is an interesting day went to the mortuary at Health Science Authority (HSA) at SGH. We were greeted by a very solemn and grave atmosphere; kins of the deceased were spotted weeping and some giving consolation despite tears welling up in their eyes. Of course I also see some divisional investigators queue up, pending status of coroner's inquiry whether to do an autposy to those who died of unnatural death. It was still drizzling lightly and i started to get qualms about this visit.

Shortly after some briefing, we were brought into the viewing gallery. 5 bodies were lined up on those stainless steel trolleys. It was quite a disturbing sight. We were told that one of the body belonged to a 70+ old lady who died in a traffic accident. We were also told that the mortuarists (people who cut up the dead bodies or whatever you call them to be) are the best in the world. During the tsunami incident in Thailand, our mortuarists were dispatched to do autopsy examination on some of the dead bodies. It was said that by the time our mortuarists finished cutting up the 4th body, the US experts are still doing their first while the Aust counterparts ar still contemplating which part to start the incision. LOL. The most funny thing is that these so called experts asked our mortuarists which Uni they graduated from b'cause they were so amazed up their skills and technique of cutting. Quite surprisingly most of our mortuarists barely completed their primary school education, let alone to say university studies. The experts were taken back. @@ LOL.

Anyway hats off to these unsung warriors. Not many could stand the stench and the mental pressure to work in this environment. Certainly not me!! So off they went to "disect" the dead bodies. First they did and incision from the ear to the other ear across the back of the head, then the skin of the head was peeled off (quite amazingly seemed like a rubber mask) Then an electric rotor blade was used to cut open the skull and the brain was taken out. The body was then cut up from the thoat all the way to the pelvic bone. Internal organs were extracted after the rib cage was cut away. (Ok at this point i was feeling abit dizzy and looked away)

Then after that individual organs were examined for signs of clotting, bruising on the exterior before they were sliced up thinly to scrutinise the interior. After recording down all the signs, the parts were disposed off. It was more like a biological lesson where the pathologist was explaining every part of the human body to us from the function of the organ to the interior composition. It was not as gross as i thought. Someone reminded me that treat them as dead objects and don't keep thinking them as human bodies. That somehow did the trick..i did not feel as grosteque as the moment i stepped into the viewing gallery. The glass viewing gallery did so much to prevent us in direct contact with the stench and i think i really appreciate it alot with the air-con ventilation. I can't imagine myself stepping inside of the examination room with the protective overall and the facial mask...i think they can't do much to "stop" the stench from reaching my nostrils.

Anyway after the mortuary visit, went over to the HSA forensics lab. Now this is much more interesting. It is almost similar to those forensics lab seen in CSI. Pretty cool the forensics lab consists of the DNA testing lab, the document tracing lab (trace to determine whether 2 signatures are similar) and criministics lab (evidence reconstruction). Each played major roles in reconstructing the crime scenes in major incidents such as arson, murder and rape.

It was really an eye-opening experience for me, almost came close to a hair raising one. Plenty of thoughts for me to bring back....quite disturbing as well.

Leadership training 26 Feb to 16 Mar

I remembered the days we were to wake up early in the morning at 6.15am and fall in, in front of the parade sq facing the leadership training wing. My mind was filled with lots of uncertainties and doubts as to what kind of training will we be going through today. For me gone were the days of my physical prime, I just wished I could survive through whatever training they are going to throw at me.

Training was tough besides from the normal running with our 15kg backpacks, we did logs PT, obstacle course, situational tests, and casualty evacuation exercises. All this training seemed to be selection course for the STAR team or the commandoes but they are really important for senior police officers like us. It is to train up our mental and physical resilience in face of difficult crisis Singapore may face.

We were drilled with procedures to do operation orders and planning and how to do quick Appreciation of Situation AOS, and were assessed through various exercises in different types of terrain such as arresting II in Mandai jungle, arresting drug syndicate at Changi Creek, etc. It is a very different type of experience althought the mental and physical fatigue resembled the times i went through in the army when we were to "chiong sua" (charge up mountain). But i appreciated the training objectives in the end.

The finale was marked with a 19 day field mission to the land of the lost - Nepal. This place is so dilapidated that it is so hard to find even a public phone in the mountains. Satellite phone calls are charged at USD 5 per minute but i managed to bargain to USD 5 for 5 min. The lost contact with civilization was really too hard for me to bear. I missed my family and my dearest Trini so much.

Apart from the vast mountain and beautiful scenery that was posed to us, the terrain really sucked. Imagine walking on tight edges with no support, rocky paths lined with cow dung and loose soil filled with pot-holes! They did no help to my poor aching ankles and height phobia. Few sustained injuries along the way but im impressed by the way the squad came about to overcome these mishaps.

The end of the field mission saw us did a 2 day white water rafting along Kathmandu. It was fun! But the thrill factor was kinda let down, it was more of a disneyland adventure boat ride rather than a thrilling raft on rapids. Worse still, i fell sick due to the lousy "waterproof" rainjackets that they provide. I think it was more of water resistant than waterproof.

Anyway glad to be home finally on 16 Mar. Back to civilization at last!

Looking back, it has almost been a month back. I really would like to thank the Guchees (Nepalese Gurkha trainers) - Tucci sup, Surin sup, MK sup and Zainal sup for all the efforts they put into making this training a success. Last but not least there was this one man whom i really respect from the bottom of my heart. He is none other than Col Bruce Nivens. His words his mental and physical strength dispite his age of 70+ really touched me. Below are his 2 quotes that i remembered deeply.

Late Night Adventure on 28th Dec~~~Freezing Cold

Went to Silvercity @ Metrotown to watch A night at the museum with sweetheart. Initially i dozed off for quite a bit guess the starting part is abit boring then when the creatures in the museum started to come alive, we are more awake XD haha...pretty funny show and quite entertaining glad that trini likes it too ^^

So after our movie which ended at 11.40pm, we decided to go Red Robins to have some supper but then the kitchen was already closed so we went to Boston Pizza instead. Ordered a Vanilla Baileys Cream to share and a plate of hot honey-garlic buffalo wings and a Maple Blondie. Hehe it was good supper.

After that we decided to catch the last skytrain back at 1.15am guessed we missed the last one and we decided to take the opp skytrain back to vcc-clark station hoping to get some bus back from broadway/ commercial drive. Goodness me...the skytrain actually stopped at Loughee station due to some technical problems and we have to get the last bus N9 back to downtown...so it's a long wait out there in the cold inside a small bus-stop and trini and me were basically cuddling each other for some warmth...hee its cold but feels warm at the same time...it's nice to see trini sleeping in my arms ^^ Once we reached broadway took a taxi home costs us 10bux and reached home safely at 3am too tired to shower and tat marks the end of our wonderful adventure XD

Went to Savory Coast Restaurant at Burrard with sweetheart on 29th Dec. Hehe Trini tried some white wine and we are treated with some good food and great service. Check out the Vanilla Pannacotta the dessert really very nice ^.^ v

Jianwen, Weiyang, Tianfa, Jaron and myself went to Esplanade yesterday to take photos in our graduation robes. Haha to pay back jw for missing out on the grad ceremony. Anyway was pretty fun! Tourists and locals with shify eyes kept lingering on our outfits but i do feel proud wearing my grad robe just that it's super stuff inside and i'm like drenching all over liao...

So after we finished taking the pics, we went to Marina Sq to Kyo Nichi, a jap restaurant to eat ramen ~ hehe i feel its nicer than Ajisen ^0^v spent about 9 bucks on it...pic of ramen is with Jaron's camera. So after that, Jaron left to meet up with his frens while we shopped aimlessly around before going to G2000 to try out some working shirts. Jw bought 3 long sleeve shirts there amounting to $108 hehe long term investment siah XD. Then about 8pm went to Ya Kun Toast to have a cup of tea and some toast...haha surprisingly we got 50% off the regular prices. Think its onli available to the outlet at Suntec and must be after 7pm. Hehe i ordered french toast set my all time fave. That's all for our short weekend gathering but was fun once in a while to meet up the good old frens ^^

17/04 BBQ at Westbay Condo

I have been cordially invited by Xin Hui for a BBQ at her residence, Westbay Condominium. Hehe in fact all my fellow peers working in the Electric Drives and Machine Lab have been invited over too. I guessed it's a nice gesture of Xin Hui to organize this BBQ so as to bring everyone together for the last time before we graduate from this University. Don't worry Xin Hui, we will give you our strongest mental support and encouragement in course of your PhD candidature.

Anyway met up with Weixian outside LT7A at 4.15pm before making our way to "Shop n Save" at Ginza plaza to buy some charcoal over. We are pretty surprised to bump into Haihua in the supermarket. She was on an errand to get extra charcoal, brush for butter and some fresh limes. I guessed she was pretty relieved to have met us, 2 strong guys to help her mule the stuff over XD We are pretty lucky to have escape through the torrential rain unscathed which started moments we had reached. Went up straight to Xinhui's apartment and met her flatmates. The guy, her flatmate, actually owned an exotic sealife aquarium with lotsa nice corals, crabs, prawns and sea anemone!! Must be an expensive hobby to upkeep maintaining the PH of the water, temperature and stuff. Nonetheless it was an aweful impressive sight to be the centre of attraction in the living room. Heard from Haihua that Carol's birthday would be coming up soon and she handed us a card to write our birthday wishes on it. Xinhui specially made a greentea cum red bean cake for her birthday in the kitchen....hmmmm smells yummy. Before I could feast my eyes on the end product, I was shown the way back to the living room...I guess this was part of the surprise for Carol XD

When the rain stopped drizzling , the majority of us went downstairs (Terrence, Weixian, Sharon, Carol, Xinhui her friends and myself) to set up the place and the fire. Weixian was in charge of setting up the fire and he really looks professional in doing it~I'm serious!! See him in a relaxed pose with Sharon smiling in the background XD

Yummy food below~~ ^0^v Grilled prawns, lamb steaks, satay and a mysterious dish wrapped up in the aluminium foil thingy. Any guesses? Hehe its stringray!! Marinated with chilli, white pepper, beer and onions, prepared by Carol XD It tastes great too! Just like the ones you buy outside from the coffee shop.

Surprise of the day!! Carol's birthday cake!! Wow doesn't it look lovely?? Xinhui can consider open a bakery shop rather than soldering PCBs in the lab yeah? XD The greentea flavored cake with red bean toppings really taste delicious~awww too bad you guys reading can't have a bite hehee.

Wonder when would be the next time to have such BBQ together...Time really flies 4 years of undergraduate life has just flashed through my eyes. Thanks for this wonderful time, I miss you guys especially Jonathan, Weixian, Carol and Terrence...miss all the gossiping of Dr Ashwin, A/P Panda and even Chandra in the labs, the whining about our hardware components, the number of overnights spent in the lab. FYP officially DONE!!

Today marks an important day in my diary. I have finally completed my final year project worth 12 credits!! Yay, thankfully everything went smoothly for me in the presentation, and I am hoping to get a good grade from it after positive feedback from my examiner =) Now hoping that my supervisor would give me a good grade too ^^

Hehehe my heart is like racing up and down, can't contain the excitement of completing this arduous 4 year journey in NUS. Although I still have 2 more exams to go before I graduate, the feeling of completing the FYP is simply too immense~!! I felt as though I have already graduated. Well good luck to all my friends who will be having their presentations next week hope everything will go on smoothly for them ^^

Really looking foward to the summer holidays after working so hard for this semester. Somehow need a break before I got enlisted into the Police Academy. Who knows what life would be in there but we shall see as the time goes by. Meanwhile celebrations XD Hopefully can spend a good time with Trini this summer really looking foward to her coming and hope she can make it through her exams smoothly too. Sweetheart I understand that you are facing alot of hardship during this immense period but hope you can pull it through with only 3 more weeks left. Hunnie will give you all my luck and support for you =)

New Hair Cut

Today marks the day of my new hair cut. Went with Wai yeung to a hairdresser shop near to his house. My new hair cut looks not bad at least giving me a fresher look XD The lady actually said my hair was abit thick so she made it look less dense and yea tada~that's the story of my new hair cut.

1 APR
Received $600 as the Growth Dividends from the Singapore Progress Package. Hope can use this sum of money for a short weekend getaway to hongkong with Trini. Hope we can spend a nice summer time together =)

30 APR
Went out with Jaron, Wai yeung, Jianwen and Tianfa to Bugis Mos Burger for dinner. Ordered ice peach tea and ebi rice burger as usual. Thereafter Zhangjun came and join us after dinner and we went to this anime figurine shop. Jianwen wanted to buy his gundam robot but was currently out of stock. The shoplady says the goods will be shipped in earliest by early May and they will be having a 10% discount then. Although Jianwen seemed indifferent, it was not hard to tell he was quite disappointed. Anyway it doesn't seem so bad as it is right? Just 6 more weeks plus a 10% discount tag, seem as a worthwhile package to me. But then again, I am not an anime lover.

After which went over to Jaron's place to play some card games, first is german bridge followed by Settler's which we introduced Wai yeung into the gameplay. Jianwen had to leave at 11 plus to go home to play DOTA with his friends. He claimed that he would return like 2am in the morning which he didn't and so we went off for supper after finishing settler's and hearts. Took a cab home at 3am showered and slept. What a day to celebrate submission of thesis and technical report. I guess everyone of us could finally have a short peace of mind ahead of CA4 which is coming really soon... Well let's see as the time goes; I still have a week left =)

D.O.N.E.
FYP thesis and technical report

Officially released from the incessant torture of sleepless nights, backaching crams and tight knots on my shoulders for hunching over my laptop on my desk. Smiled in a small content of satisfaction the moment when i handed up my thesis and technical report to my examiner Associate Professor Ramesh Oruganti. Massive collosal boulders were finally unladen from my aching shoulders throughout the past month....all that was left was pure RELIEF. Casting this aside, there are several people i would like to express my special thanks to for helping me pull through this tough period.

First of all, I would like to thank my mami and daddy for always being there for me. Thanks to my dear mami for making bird nest for me on nights that i stayed up late. Also special mention to my daddy for buying breakfast and lunch for me when i was so busy in typing my thesis on weekends. I would also like to thank my project supervisor Associate Professor S.K. Panda, Dr K. Viswananthan, Ms Wu Xinhui, Ms Crystal Lee and all my fellow peers and friends in Electric Machines and Drives Laboratory as well as Power Electronics Laboratory for their help and support for the past 30 weeks. Lastly I would like to thank my sweetheart, Trini for being always there for me and never failing to encourage me during times which i felt so tired that i wanted to give up.

FYP coming to an end

Yay~Finally the much dreaded FYP has come to an end. Well have to submit my draft thesis to the department and my examiner at the end of this month, yes 30th March!! Had already spent countless nights working through my thesis to such an extent that at times i slept at 7-8 ish in the morning oh well....but at least today I had got it done finally~~!! 135 pages including content page, list of tables, graphs, references and appedices. Feeling quite satisfied from my personal achievement :)

T- 22 Lab Day

By the way, Wai Yeung stayed overnight in my hostel the night before when me, Jianwen and Winston were staying up to watch the soccer match. I believe he had quite a fun time in my room, watching me doing webcam with Trini. It is smart of him to have brought along his toiletries and fresh set of clothes which he kept in his locker. So no worries of not being able to wash up if he worked overtime in the lab at night. Anyway borrowed a "sleeping mattress" from Jianwen for Wai Yeung to sleep on over the night. Hope he would not mind sleeping on it in my humble room XD

Morning woke up at 10.30am although i slept like 6am in the morning after watching the champion league match between Barcelona and Chelsea. Hehee again super impressed by the magical skills of Ronaldinho. Went for lecture at 11am lunched at 1pm then after that proceeded to my lab to do more testing. I was supposed to meet my Professor at 2.30pm in the lab.

1400h: Went to the PCB fabrication lab to look for Mr Jalil to pick up my PCB. Drilled the holes and filed the edges of my PCB board.

1420h: Went to the ECE mechnanical workshop to look for help to cut a rectangular hole in my PCB was "kindly" asked to solve the problem by myself. Therefore I went back to the PCB fabrication lab to drill a big hole and used a small needle file borrowed from Mr Jalil to file the edges.

1500h: Finally filing my first PCB board with the rectangular hole to fit my piezoignitor. My professor came and I showed him the waveforms of what I had obtained from the previous day.
Both of us were quite disappointed that the energy harvesting circuit is not able to power up the RF circuitry.

1530h: My professor asked me to try using a solar cell to develop a hybrid system to power the electronics. Did open circuit voltage testing of the photovoltaic cell with various light intensity.

1600h: Construct a test circuit linking the ouput DC voltage of the photovoltaic cell to a storage capacitor and regulate it at 5V using a linear regulator. Transmitter is able to function. Did a series of test to determine the minimum threshold light intensity for the DC regulator to operate and hence the RF electronics.

1645h: Got a 3phase system light bulb from Mr. Woo to determine the increase in open circuit voltage of the photovoltaic cell. Recorded the values and pack up.

End of a very gloomy day can really see no where my project is heading to...head sunken..

Went back to PGP at about 8 plus heard there's a fire drill exercise but luckily not involving resisdents from my block. Went to Gerodies mart to stock up on some food and drink --- getting psyched-up again for the late soccer match tonight, this time Arsenal against Real Madrid. True enough it was a exciting performance played between the two sides although the nil-nil scoreline would have suggest otherwise. Hehehe had a fantastic time uhhhh-ing and ahhh-ing at the gasping misses throughout the match together with Jianwen and Winston. After the match ended i could hear the birds stirring in the nest as dawn is approaching. Maybe time for me to turn in to get some rest ahead of a new challenging day tomorrow.

T-23 Lab Day

1400h: Finished lunch proceeded to my lab. Set up the MAX666 linear voltage regulator circuit on breadboard tested the connections and the output voltage. Passed.

1420h: Hooked up the MAX666 regulator to mainboard to test for waveform. Obtained voltage waveforms of storage capacitor and linear voltage regulator. Tried loading with various resistances ranging from 10 ohm to 1.5k-ohm. Failed to get any output voltage across regulator.
Suspect low energy.

1530h: Stopped lab testing wrote email to my supervisor. Arrange an appointment with him the next day at 2.30PM in the lab.

Met Wai Yeung, Jianwen, Winston and Qinmin for dinner at Arts canteen. Went back to lab to finish up my GEM2501 assignment. Finished my assignment in 1h. Looking foward to tonight's champion league match between Barcelona and Chelsea. Hehe will be watching with Jianwen, Zhangjun and Winston together in the TV lounge later tonight at 3.35 AM.

Yawn~~what a tiring day...I need a good shower ahead of the match XD

T-24 Lab Day

From today onwards, I shall keep a small log on my FYP progress for my personal reference and reflection of what I had done and what should be done.

1700h: Went to PCB lab at to look for Mr. Jalil to get my PCB board.
Cut the board, file the edges and drilled four 3mm holes on the four
corners of my board. 1720h: Went to the MacDonald's at engin with Weiyang, ate a strawberry sundae and a cheeseburger as teabreak.

1800h: Went back to my lab to solder my components on my PCB.
Did short circuit testing. All working fine.
Connect to my main PCB board (mainboard). Stopped work.

1910h: Went for dinner with Jonathan and Weiyang at Engin canteen

2145h: DC-DC converter unable to operate due to low input voltage from storage capacitor. Storage capacitor output waveform is correct when it is o/c. Tried removing decoupling capacitors from DC-DC converters but to no avail. Suspect DC-DC converter drawing too much current. Suggest to test with a linear voltage regulator MAX666 chip tomorrow. (Although very inefficient)

Time is running out~~yet still procastinating to press the "panic-button". Well someone said that in engineering no matter how worse the situation gets, things will always get done evenutally at the last minute. Somehow no one has ever refuked this claim.

Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan 仙剑奇侠传

Awwwie this is not looking good at all~! I've been virtually hooked to this TV drama series <<仙剑奇侠传>> over the past week during my spring break. Well this TV series is adapted from a popular chinese game developed by Softworld back in the 90s. I believe it's around 1996 where many famous novel dos games were created such as <<金庸群侠传>> etc. The plot is quite good in a way but the ending is super depressing. I recalled tears welling up my eyes uncontrollably...seriously @@

Well although tales and heroics in the fantasy world are spun around demons, fairies and gods, there's more meaning to the superficial good vs evil fighting and saving the world kinda playscripting. The show really rips open all the dark sinful sides of the human nature. I would like to share a few thoughts here, just my 2 cents worth. XD

In the show there's this fox and snake demon couple which had gone aroundover the years to devour human souls so as to reach their "nirvana" howeverthey were killed and destroyed by self-conceited humans whothought they had saved the world by getting rid of the 2 demons. Whenthe snake demon died, the fox demoness tried to revive her husband bysacrificing 500 years of her divine training to preserve her husband soul in anembryo. However she and the embryo were eradicated eventually.

Sad. Even demons have such strong emotions of love and sacrifice. If they could have the same feelings as what humans are having, what makes them more demonic and us more humanic? Are those who committed spouse abuse crimes considered still human? Humanity, devility are only a form of existence. We must embrace diversity; this draws parallels to our reality world. There is no the "others" like blacks, hispanics, whites, asians, etc. Although we are distinguished by ethnicity, we are but afterall belong to the same species.Secondly, when the so-called demons kill humans, we tagged them evil. But that is their only means of surviving. When humans kill elephants, bears, tigers, sharks, and all other endangered species, we don't necessary eat their meat for life sustainence do we? Most of the time we are killing them for their ivory tasks, their hides, their fins and their paws, yet we don't tag ourselves with the evil label!! No wonder cries of the world wildlife conservation are virtually inaudible. Take some moments to ponder when you are about to order shark's fin soup from your favorite restaurant next time or when you pass by an exquisite mink boutique.

Anyway yea just my 2 cents worth.

Yum Cha @ Crystal Jade Restaurant

Today woke up extremely late at about 12noon haha slept like a piggie from last night. Anyway woke up and mami says we are going to the Crystal Jade Restaurant at Causeway point for yum cha. Its kinda wee bit late for yum cha though XD Were quite surprised by the fact that there's such a long queue waiting outside the restaurant even at 1pm hmmm good business i suppose. Well we waited for like 10 minutes or so before we are being shown to our seats yay! Ordered the typical dim sum like har gau, fung zau, HK kai lan, yam cake, etc. Ohya we also tried the egg tarts, pi dan lean meat congee and the fish head soup hmmm all very yummy. XD

After yum cha, sis went back home first with me accompanying my parents to courts to look for a new fridge. Yea mami complained that our fridge at home is too small le time to upgrade to a larger one. We sorta set our eyes on the Samsung brand which is quite big 485 litres at $999 however it is outta stock at the moment so prolly would come back for it some other time bah.

After which went home and guess who i saw on the way?? Hehe i saw 2 of my old primary school classmates caizhu and geraldine!! It's really kinda surprise to me since i haven't seen them for like ages guess singapore is quite small though. They are making their way to chinatown to do some shopping. Hee chatted quite abit before my stop arrived. Gosh time does really fly by so fast din realize that it has been already 12 years since i graduated from my primary school le but its always nice to meet your old friends on the street once in a while ^^

Home Sweet Home, Back to School

Home sweet home finally!! After been away from home like almost half a year it does feel good to be back home once again. However I dreaded the hot weather back in Singapore -.- Somehow missed the cooling weather in UK. Although been back for like a month I really missed all the good frens I had made in newcastle esp the poly guys - calvin, wee, weiming, guanrong, binghong and effendi. They are certainly a fun batch to hang out with. Well school now starts for me and I will be having a pretty hectic semester in front of me. I taking 5 modules this semester including my final year project which I am still clueless of how to start o.o hehe research n reading phase now i suppose for most and myself too XD

Anyway just a brief update of my trips during summer time after my exams, I went to Italy - Rome and Venice with the poly guys and Win Win and YK. After that we spent a week in London and Bath before I went alone to Vancouver in Canada. Spent a memorable 2 weeks in Canada fell in love with the stunning scenery there. Hehee Canada is definitely worth visiting if u can fork out the money :) Celebrated Canada's Day in Victoria, capitol of British Columbia with Trini. The fireworks are so nice hehee it was one of the nites where i had such special and overwhelmed feelings XD.

Now back to reality besides studying have been giving tuition to a sec4 N level student in physics/chemisty hoping to gain some cashflow...been running badly outta cash from this sep trip. But it's ALL worthed it !!

Star Wars Episode 3 --- Revenge of the Sith

Today decide to catch the Star Wars movie - Revenge of the Sith. It was to be screened in the theatres on the 18th May but Win Win had exam on the 19th so we decided to watch it on the 20th which is friday instead. We initially asked yew keng along but apparently he was a very keen fan of george lucas films so we asked elena along and she said she would come after her exams on that day lor. But sadly she msg me after her paper that she was feeling very tired and she din do well for her paper so din have the mood to join us lor. So in the end me and win win went to the Odeon Cinema at the Gate. Hmmmm luckily the system here abit weird can actually get full refund for the ticket before the screening time so yea got the full refund for elena's tix lor (paid £4.90 per student tix)...sigh wat a pity tot will be a good chance to ask everyone out to unwind for the weekend. Coz like very long neva meet up wif elena le and then i feel shld at least catch a movie while in newcastle mah. Oh well...

Anyway another weird thing abt the cinema system is that it is totally free seating one so we have to queue up early to get into the theatres if we want good seats. We reached there at 8.30pm 30min before the admission times. Hahaha since we know the food sold in the cinema is super expensive like £3.20 for small popcorn(super ridiculous man), we bot some pop drinks in a nearby kebab shop before going lor. I bot sprite for win win and coke for myself. Once seated (we are quite lucky to get the middle row seat), thye showed like approx 30min of advertisment and sneak previews. Hmmm seemed like Batman begins is not bad and the other one is a walt disney film production on a fantasy like story. The fantastic 4 doesn't seemed to be very exciting to watch XD anyway after all the boring advertisments the show finally begun lor.

I was initially very excited coz i liked the star wars series since young mah last time ch5 always got telecast the trilogy series de. But think my expectations are abit too high lah XD so yea din feel anything special in fact i was pretty amazed by the pre series in Phantom of the Menace and the Clone Wars. Anyway i feel tat samuel lee jackson is like abit extra in the movie quite suay also genna chopped off the arm by anakin. but the jedi coucil really abit too 死板...shld have make anankin like acting master if they dun really want him to hold on to too high an appt mah. just like wat ns always do acting COS　XD (hahaha think this term will be very familar to u guys XD) then in this way can supervise on anakin mah and hoax him saying that now u have greater power u must have greater responsibility lor. So he wld guai guai listen dun anyhow have those feelings of greed, fear or wat crap...haha remind me of full metal alchemist the 7 sins of human--- pride, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath, sloth and envy.

Think anakin is a really a big victim of circumstance...u could say he's evil but i think he has no choice ah the impact of losing his mum, his onli loved one, since young was too deeply entrenched in his heart tat's why he feared alot of losing padme in the same way as he lost his mum --- could onli stare but do nothing. So yea dark side he turned. Abit silly lah coz he got swayed by the chancellor's words too easily but if there's anyhope not to let padme die he will cling on and follow it lor. Well his dream did came true sad to say but i was pretty amused by the fact tat he could survive from the first degree burns on his body after being like scorched by the burning larva abit far-fetched siah...but story are story mah XD the rest u know lah he later became the darth vader the infamous black armor-suit guy wif a respiratory amplifier that go whoosh everytime he expires XD

Padme then gave birth to a pair of twins the guy named luke and the gal named leia...and with tis the newborn kids are supposed to be the new hope of the galaxy heheh for more info pls refer to episode 4: The New Hope.

I should say some of the songs from the soundtrack are being recycled i was yearning to hear newer songs but think nth special caught my attn. Graphics is good as usual fighting between obi-wan-kenobi and anakin is so-so bah story wise think it captured the gist from the original story and i think the actor for anakin, Hayden Christensen, did really well can really see the twist of emotions all written on his face not bad :) Think i would give an overall 7.5/10 rating for this movie.

First Day of Exams (18 May)

Wah sianz man....today is the first day of my exams. Today's paper is Power Systems Operation and Control EEE411 equivalent to nus EEE4501. I was prepapring for this exams ytd nite...haha but then fell asleep after dinner woke up at 10pm then continue actually was quite sianz le...just re-doing past year papers again lor...to familarise the maths b4 i go into the exam hall. Din know wat to expect actually for my first exam but according to seniors and frens over here apparently, the past year questions get recycled once in a while so yea im trying to squeeze everything into my head the nite b4 lor. So after my late nap, woke up go to shower then read thru some of the notes i made myself did some more questions and i finished at ard 1am. But too awake to go to sleep again so i went online and chat wif win win lor until abt 2am in the morning hehehe she also quite sianz studying adi. Her paper is in the afternoon 2.30pm while mine is in the morning 9.30am. After win win logged out and went to sleep i chatted wif Zhangjun, Jianwen and Jaron until abt 2am in the morning then went back to my room.... but still too hyper lah think its the pre-exam excitement so in the end toss and turn in bed until abt 4.30am !! then went to sleep.

Woke up at 8.30am went for breakfast as usual then set off to the exam venue lah stood outside waiting like a scarecrow :p feel weird coz im the onli chinese ard. The paper was tougher than i expected as compared to previous years but still doable lah have to think for a while lor ....i din do as fast as the krazzzy guy beside me who is like scribbling furiously when the exam started XD lol. Haha din bring my protractor who will bring such thing from spore one rite? XD anyway i figured its not worthed it to buy a new one just for this exam lah so i waited for the ang moh gal to finish using for her question then i raised my hand to ask the invigilator if i could borrow the protractor from her lor. In the end i still comfortably finish the paper in abt 40min before time lah for the 2hr exam. Checked thru my answers shld be okay lah then just wait for the time to submit my papers lor ....din wanna leave early lah dunno why too XD

Anyway after the exam i was beginning to feel abit tired think maybe last nite sleep too less, anyway i went to the library to return 2 books due to next day actually but since im adi out must as well return it lor coz the library is quite near my exam venue if not will be a 15min walk from my hostel. I returned one book on electrical machines and the other book on digital signal processing. Then after tat i went to do some shopping in Eldon.

Bot a Johnson 2-1 shower gel and a tetrapack of ribena (hehehe my fave drink XD) then after tat do some window shopping in Monument and the Newcastle club shop. The new jersey for the 06/07 season arrived on the monday (16 May) but i was preparing for exams mah so din go lor anyhow went today and wasn't really fancified by the new jersey design in fact i think the old one looks nicer. The new one is quite plain besides the black n white traditional strips of course. The onli things they changed were the northen rock words which was orignally in blue and white not changed to golden somemore its not even protruding, look very obiang and damn 2D (its 2D in fact just printed on it onli) and then the second thing that changed is the sleeves and the sides of the jersey. Anyway one piece of jersey is priced at £40 definitely not worth buying at the moment :P The old season jersey now is being priced at £25 quite reasonable but still expensive for me to afford. In fact i bot the training jersey for £15 which i think is nicer and think not many ppl in spore wld wear tat since spore dun sell training jerseys for football clubs xD

Newcastle United Official Club Store Opening (22 Apr)

I was happily checking the Newcastle United official website one day then happened to see that they have this official club store opening in St. James Park to replace the old one lah. The official club store opening is on the 22nd Apr 2pm. Haha my Optoelectronics lecture will end 3pm that day which is a Friday. Since its a Friday also nothing much to do mah so must as well take a trip down to check wat's in store maybe lucky will get some free gifts leh XD

So after my lecture me and win win supposed to meet outside the club entrance at St James Park mah since my lecture ended earlier, i went to queue up first mah coz up till this pt i still tot got free gifts one XD But then when i arrived leh, i saw like quite a long queue of ppl outside the club shop entrance which is lined with red carpert wor. So i was thinking wah so grand ah then asked ard got some ppl tell me they are queueing up to get the autographs of the first team players lor. According to them all the first team and reserves came for this official opening. Hehee then i also joined in the queue lor since here adi. Hahah think im one of the last ones to make it in the queue XD. While queueing up i was thinking i dun have anything for them to sign wor so when win win arrive i ask here to stand in the queue for me first while i rushed into the club shop to get this team photograph lor to let them sign. Will be more meaningful rather than sign on foolscap paper rite? XD

Anyway when its going to be our turn to go in, with like 10 ppl or so infront of us, the security guards say they aint letting anymore ppl in le coz they have only arranged the soccer stars for an hour autograph signing session only =( Shit man...after all tat long queue and i dun think the players mind to sign for another 10 ppl rite? the security guards are damn blockheaded haiz no point arguing with them some of the ang mor kids are scolding vulgarities and arguing with them but only to get brushed off. Hehehe on seeing this, i pulled win win to one side and we sneaked in from another entrance into the club shop and hun4 shui3 mo1 yu1 with the main crowd inside hahah shld have done this earlier le then no need to queue up ang moh system really weird i can confirm such thing wun happen in singapore deh XD

So in we go but once we are in Alan Shearer stood up and left for some interview with the reporters. Oh well we tot of getting the autographs of other players first while waiting for shearer to get done wif his press interview. Unfortunately i forgot to bring my digital camera along wah suay man so cant take alot of pics with the players. I only got Patrick Kluivert and Laurent Robert close up photos. Hehehe and a one which Win win took with Robert XD not too bad lah. But after his interview, Shearer was rushed off to the exit by some escorts and we were forced not to follow oh well tough luck man so near n yet so far. XD Anyway since we adi there, we spent some time to check out any new products in store lor sad to say there arent lah and they are like so expensive think have to wait till summer sales.

Sending off Nelly, Dinner at Quayside Big Mussels (29 Apr)

30 Apr (Sat), Nelly will be going back to Singapore le. Nelly, Cecilia, Karen, Jason, Sandy and Liqi are the Ngee Ann poly students tat came here for exchange as well but they are doing research onli so which means NO EXAMS. hehehe tats why they got to travel abt so frequently very envious of them =p Nelly extended her stay her to help her supervisor continue some research lor while the rest they went back to singapore adi last month on 28th march. So yea time really flies man so fast yet another month have past. Then a new batch of poly students have just come over 6 of them and one of them is Nelly's brother Fendi. The other guys names are Jeremy, Wee, Binhong 2 others i forgot le. XD
Anyway as farewell to Nelly and welcome to the new poly guys we went to this Big Mussels restuarant at the Quayside which serves mussels of course XD This restaurant is abit funny. It opens at 5.30pm and closes at 11.30pm.

If u enter at 5.30pm u can get certain exclusive meals say the 1kg mussels pot which normally costs 11+ pounds for just 5.30 pounds XD sounds good eh? I had this 1kg classic mussels pot. The sauce for the classic mussels is mixed with white wine. Besides the main dish, chips and ovenfresh bread is also served lor so not bad. I had a raspberry ice drink too. Win win ordered mangese for her sauce which has fresh mango slices and some sweet sauce. Ah keng ordered mushroom n cream for his sauce.

After dinner we decided to go to the quayside for a walk since its still early. hahaha dun be deceived by the daylight man believe me its adi 7.30pm le. Now in UK, the sun typically sets during 9pm pretty amazing but i kinda like it hahaha walking back from win win's house wun be that dark man at nite XD

The championship race showdown (4 May)

Today wake up very gancheong, hahaha not becoz suffering from the hangover effects of liverpool winning chelsea in the champions league semis lah, but because today is the championship race of out EEE210 project car mah. Back in nus we are supposed to do this module EE2001 which is make a remote control boat lah but then here dun have mah so we bua chao (play cheat) map to this simplier module lah which basically requires us to make a self-guided car on a white n black track. The timing to pass is 1 lap in 2min. The max marks is 3 laps in 2min without interference. Hehehe we did it the full 3 laps in 1min 51sec that is avg of 37 sec per lap. This is the assessment for our module. For the race itself each team is given 2 tries to run a lap and the fastest of the 2 laps will be recorded lah. The team wif the fastest lap timing will win the race simple as tat.

The top 4 prizes before the race starts.
Winners : 100 pounds cash + 3 bottles of champagne + 3 nice nice plastic plagues
Runner-up : 4 cans of Newcaslte Ale
Third place: 4 cans of some ulu brand beer
Fourth : 1 box of Cadbury chocolates XD

Actually before the race starts we got callibrate it last friday and our best lap time is 32.9sec but then ah its highly non-reproducable lor no matter how hard we try to callibrate this morning, and we have to settle like 37-39 sec lap time. Before the race starts its really very nervous lah coz we know there are 3 teams that can beat us or rather very close competitors. We are gambling and so are they lah.

To my knowledge the car with the PCB deisgn is capable of 34sec , the one with the analogue closed loop feedback syst is capable of 35sec and the other underdog team is abt 36sec. So as u can see we are like quite underdog of the underdog lah @@

The race started even before we know it le. When its our main competitor the PCB design team's turn, all eyes all fixed on them coz its quite certain that they will do well onli difference is will they break their own and current record of 35sec. Hehee quite strangely when the car started moving it had a v slow acceleration i tot my eyes were playing tricks on me but then when i checked my stopwatch i was shocked coz i know wif this timing they wun even make close to 40sec then shock upon shock their car actually went out of track not once but 4 times!!! i was like confused siah wat happened? But inside our hearts we know that one competitor is out coz per intervention for out of track is a 5sec penalty. We know we got chance a small chance but still better than nthg.

Next up is the analogue feedback ctrl team their circuit is really intimidating man components that i neva even seen b4 anywayz while waiting for our module coordinator to start time we are like cursing them inside our hearts i know its bad but competitions are always liddat 100 pounds afterall mah xDDD . To our surprise and relief their car started off very well wif a nice acceleration but towards the midpoint it actually went out of track 2 times and their lap timing was like 46sec + 10sec so yea out of contention for the champions le but still they are currently leading can u believe it ?? XD hahaaz other teams fare so badly. Anyway after his race i went to ask him wat happened mah coz i tot analogue feedback shld be super stable one. He revealled to me he took a gamble lah coz he use a high speed which he neva callibrated n tested b4 lor but he says its okay lah. Althou he said tat i could see he's quite disappointed lah since his car is capable of 35sec last week w/o going outta track somemore.

The next team is us lor. So yew keng placed the car on the track while i stay by the side to take our own timing. The supervisor will take his also. So we started off quite depressingly when i hear the motor sound i know its not going to make it to the 35 sec mark we wanted. We had our lap time of 40sec on the first try. Each team is given 2 tries and the best lap timing will be taken lor. We decided to change a to a 'newer' set of our used batteries hoping can shave a few more sec. Hehehe expectedly we did well and we finished a lap time of 37sec which means we are currently leading for this championship race. Not a good timing but we know we tried our best and can onli wait for other teams' results le. There are 9 more out of a total 18 teams left. So we are halfway thru to becoming the winners if u put it that way xD

Teams after teams none of them can complete one single lap within the 45 sec mark and more imptly we seemed to be the only team today tat complete one full lap without penalties tat is with intervention when the car goes outta track XD Then came the last team, team 18. I know they had a chance coz our grp n his grp always stayed out late in the labs during the easter break they had a crazy algo which makes the car accelerates n pause the motor and accelerates again so its like quite fast on the average but onli difference is not smooth driving. Their first lap is shocking fast 40sec and tat makes them in second place. Its quite an enormous achievement for them because their car always have tendency to go outta track with tat algo since the easter break so i guess luck was shinning on them too. Then came their second try. They increased the speed which again uncallibrated coz its a do or die situation. This their onli and last chance of the whole race to snatch the champion from us since they are adi guaranteed of second place liao. Its 100 pounds or nthg champagne or beer mah XDDD And off they went. They started off superbly to a pt tat i was quite taken aback coz that sound from their motor it vvv familar its exactly the same rpm that we got the record timing of 32.9sec during our field testing last fri. When their caR approaches the finishing line with 30cm to spare i looked at my stopwatch....my heart sank immediately 32 sec !! with 30cm to go they are going to make it man....OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Suddenly i heard a massive awwwwwwww in the background i glanced up from my stopwatch mah and saw his car going OUTTA TRACK OMG!! i was like suddenly going up on a roller coaster ride man wahhahahaaha we won le we won le !!! they finished the lap in record of 34sec but + 5sec penalty = 39sec woOt we are the champions!! champions !!! XDD hahaahahah super happy man but also quite sad for them ah they came in so close threw in everything they got and so unlucky with 30cm to spare then go out of track. Anyway we cant hide from our estastic emotions hahaha first time i won such competition XD

After the race our supervisor approached us saying that the chancellor of the uni of newcastle will be visiting the EE dept tmr so he asked us if we could come down to do a live demonstration of our car to the chancellor and we would get a chance to take a photo with him for the dept photos. hehehe it sounded such an honor tat we cant reject so why not XD

12th Apr Day 2 in Berlin

We decided to go to Sachsenhausen Camp but its in like zone C so we need to get a grp S-bahn tix for to travel from zone A to zone C. Below is the picture of our tix. It writes please validate yr tix and we have to validate it at a red ticket machine thingy within 2 hours if not there will be penalty for commuters caught travelling with a unvalidated tix.
Kleingruppenkarte means little group card; gruppen means group lor karte means card lor see i neva learn german also know XDDD so its 15 euros for the 3 of us but it can be shared to a max of 5 people so the more people sharing the merrier lah but then onli got 3 of us travel mah

Hahaha a MTV style of a pretty lady on board our S-bahn train to Sachsenhausen Camp. The most feared camp during WWII...yes the concentration camp
Nazi's Uniform in Sachsenhausen Camp (think typical private uniform)

The monument erected in memory of those victims who fell into the cruel hands of the Nazi or the secret police during World War 2. There are 18 small traingles on the monument each wif a unique design on it to represent the 18 major nationilities of the captives.

This camp is super big lah luckily admission is free but we need to get the audio guide and a map for 3 euros if not confirm will get lost de. After spending like half a day in the camp somehow get kinda depressed lah its really not a nice place to spend too much time in kinda creepy to see the cells of the prisoners, drawn pictures of the atrocities (they wun show you the real photographs of course). So at about 2.30pm (think abt 3.5hrs spent in the camp), we decided to head back to Berlin city center to explore the west side since we have been walking around the eastern side for the past day.

There as u can see we are back in Western Berlin. Apparently we can see that there is some difference in the layout n building architecture in the west and in the east lah but now there is heavy reconstruction in the eastern side. Think its the govt development policies to create a new Berlin and to erase the past 'boundaries' that still exist bah.

As usual, we went to check out where is Hard Rock Cafe and we found out its actually very near the Berlin Zoological station the place where we alighted from our train travelling from Paris one. Hehehe Ah keng's fave since its his motivation to go to every city he visited and buy the Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt there as rememberance XD He says he's going to wear one per day in NUS during lecture. First day Paris lah second day Berlin, third day Rome, etc XDDD evil hor XD

13th Apr Day 3 in Berlin

Dunkin Donuts hehehe vvv nice wor!! I got a Walnut choco one think we very heng leh coz got offer gua if u buy any donut they give free coffee and can refill one all for 1.10 euro not bad siah their coffee is really very nice they use their special grounded coffee beans even ah keng who drink coffee so much also say nice XDD hahah look really mouth-watering hor :P

Since its our last day left in Berlin, we decide to indulge abit lor. Ah keng was complaining since his exchange here he hasn't ate jap cruisine for 2+ months then he says is a new record for him lor. So we decided to go to this Korean restaurant which is very near to our hostel. This Korean restaurant got serve jap food too so its not too bad lah and got nice ambience.

This plate of salmon sashimi costs 15 euros!! Ah keng's fave hahah think ah keng really like berlin alot since got good food and relatively cheap as compared to singapore. He says in singapore good sashimi easily costs 30 - 40+ sing dollars.

Hehehe cutie teddy bear with a heart shape pinbadge, i got this bear for Win Win. It writes Weldstaldt mit herz which means metropolitian city with heart. LOL i found out by asking the waitress in the korean restaurant.

Haha after lunch we rushed to the airport lor almost have a fright coz we are like 5min before the gate closes phew....all because of waiting too long for our jap food in the restaurant lor coz apparently the lady boss and the male chef had an arguement think they run out of rice to make sushi then the lady boss dunno misunderstood wat thing lor then argue wah really first time experience in restaurant reminds me of the brawl up incident in St James Park between Kireon Dyer and Lee Bowyer internal conflict. Haizz becoz of this incident make us almost late for our flight luckily SAF trained us well man XDD hahaha can run wif bulky load ;)

Remains of the Berlin Wall which was fell in 1989.
Until 1961 East German citizen were allowed to travel to West Berlin. Travelling to West Germany became difficult after closing the border between East and West Germany in 1952. The Wall was erected in 1961 because more than 2.6 million East Germans escaped to West Berlin or West Germany from 1949 to 1961 (total population of East Germany was about 17 million!). The life in the West was much better than in the East after 1948. West Germany including West Berlin had got financial help through the Marshallplan from the USA. In East Germany a communist system was established and many people had to suffer under repressions of the Communist party. In May 1952 the open border (Zonengrenze) between East and West Germany was closed by the East German government. In the years after 1952 it became more difficult and dangerous to escape to the West over this border. However, the sectorial borders between East and West Berlin were not closed. Checkpoint Charlie

Ten days after closing the border on August 13, 1961 tourists from abroad, diplomats and the military personnel of the Western Powers were only allowed to enter East Berlin via the crossing point at Berlin Friedrichstrasse.
Soon the US military police opened the third checkpoint at Friedrichstrasse. The other two checkpoints were Helmstedt at the West German-East German border and Dreilinden at the West Berlin and East Germany border. Based on the phonetic alphabet the Helmstedt checkpoint was called Alpha, Dreilinden Checkpoint Bravo and the checkpoint at Friedrichstrasse got the name Charlie.

Last day in Paris!!! Wow time really flies siah. Since our train to Berlin is at 8pm tonight, we still got almost a full day in Paris. Besides we still got our Orange weekly saver tix which means we can take unlimited metro ride for that week so we decided to go to Luxemborg Gardens after we checked out from Akena Hotel in Disneyland. When we reached back Paris city center we went to Tolbaic, Vietnamese town macham like chinatown in newcastle liddat but its vietnamese lah. Why vietnamese leh coz last time Vietnam (Indochina) was under French colony so i guess after their liberation the French govt still cordially welcome Vietnamese into the French soils. We had traditional Vietnam beef kuaytiao at Pho Mui restaurant each big bowl costs abt 6.80 euros, but its very worthed it very shiok ah!!!

Hahaha woke up 8.30am in the morning, but was freezing cold man although the sun is brightly shining thru our curtains at least is good sunshine unlike the day b4 when we are in Versailles all drenched wet in the freezing cold rain. So after our continental buffet breakfast which costs 4.85 euros per person, we went out to the bus-stop to catch a bus to Disneyland. Gosh it was quite a costly mistake as the bus timing is like once in every hour damn we missed the last one so no choice lor. We went back to the hotel asked the manager to help us call for taxi. Not too bad lah 14 euros to get to Disneyland shared between the 3 of us. Hehhehe the price for the Disneyland park is 40 euros per person but now they got this bundle price promotion Disneyland Park and Disney Studios for 49 euros per person and u can go in and out unlimited for that day. So we decided to get the 49 euros tix lor sound quite worthed it lah. Anyway the Chinese lady at the sales counter told us that the Disneyland Park closes at 8pm while the Disney Studios closes at 6pm so we must plan our time carefully lor. Hehehe i only know her name as Xia since she is wearing a nametag mah wah but her uniform nice nice got alot of those cutie Disney badges and pins XDD wonder how long has she been in this service le. Somemore her uniform got 3 flag pins, France, UK and China so i suppose these are the 3 languages that she spoke. Anyway after we bot our tix we went straight into Disneyland Park le lah XDD

Our first ride of the day Pinochio Adventure Ride must get fast tickets if not have to queue up damn long. The fast ticket system works like this u use yr admission tix to get a fast ticket and the fast ticket for that particular ride will allow u entry onli on a certain time for example we went to get this tix for the Pinochio Adventure at abt 12pm but we are onli allowed in 1pm to 1.30pm so in the meantime we can check out on other things first in Fantasyland. If we use the other conventional method of queueing up it will waste alot of time since theres always a long queue for such hot rides fast tix is like priority seats. XD

Alice in Wonderland Maze....god damn its huge man quite fun in the beginning when we walked thru the maze but after 5min its getting quite irriatating siah guess we are not too innocent enough XDD Nonetheless the kids are having lotsa fun running thru them can hear them cute little giggles....so good to be a kid again :)

Hehehe this small world is pretty cool we actually sit in a little boat then it bring us into this tunnel where we see this little dolls dressed in various nationality costumes with some buiding structures to represent the country but sad to say dun have Singapore =( Hehehe below is the Eiffel tower and the French dolls known as the cancan gals in Moulin Rouge.

haiz rain rain for the past week pretty sad. Monday morning 18 apr woke up at 8.30am to go breakfast. Today marks the first day of the 3rd and final term in newcastle. Everything that i do today seemed to be very sluggish might be the weather bah somemore monday blues. Anyway after breakfast i went to the pc lab to check my uni mail found out my digital control lecturer cancelled his lecture again !!! Damn him man always find excuse to siam lectueres first time is sick then second time go hospital then third time got dunno wat conference then this time his relative die >.< So many times le then dun even bother to have make up lectures for it man....at this rate i think im gonna flunk the module le lah. Actually its not the theory that i am afraid of in fact is the practical that im more worried. Coz the exams consists of 1hr theory paper 30% and 3h practical 70% which is based on mathlab lor. It is quite hard to learn thru myself all the funny mathlab commands without lecturer's guidance lah but now on seeing how slack my lecuturer is, i guess i have to learn it the hard way man. There's one conlcusion that i have drawn up however, is tat ang moh male lecturers are damn slack man!! The female ones are still okay XD

Anyway thats all for now la later gonna do some revision on my optoelectronics then in the afternoon if i got time i will continue to upload the disneyland pics taken in paris. Gosh i have taken 2.11gb worth of pics in paris n berlin man wonder how to survive if i dun bring my lappie along man. okay tada...^^

Paris Trip Day 1 (6 Apr)

Hehehe our Easy Jet plane to Paris from Newcastle. It started drizzling and we seemed to be kinda running into bad luck when we reached Charles de Gaulle airport.

Oberkampf Metro station hahaha once we popped out of the station we can see our hotel, Mary's Hotel le super convenient and the condition of the hotel is not bad too got free breakfast every morning and have a ensuite shower-room and TV. We paid like 23.20 euros per person per nite its pretty reasonable at least a budget hotel ^^

Poor poopie..i mean Jean-Paul II he died the day we reached paris?? abit de too heng rite anyway can see lotsa ppl mourning over his death in the high cathedral inside Notre Dame.

Nite Shot along Seine river will be very romantic at nite if not for the damn rain...dunno why paris like to rain alot worse than UK ><" we wanted to walk to the Eiffel tower at nite along seine river seemed to be a good choice at first we slowly strolled ah first to notre dame then to Palais Musee de Louvre then to Musee de Orsay. Turn out that we overestimated ourselves this seine river is damn freaking long and although we can see the tall eiffel tower from far but deep inside our gradually demoralised hearts both by the endless rain and the long aching "stroll", we know that we wun be able to make it there by walking tonite. We then tot of taking metro there since we adi bot the weekly orange ticket but then having another glance at our watch its adi 11.15pm le and we are not sure when is the last train back to our hotel the last thing we want to do is to walk all the way back from Eiffel to Mary's hotel will really cry geh

Paris Trip Day 2 (7 Apr)

Woke up at 8am went for breakfast have french loaf, cappuchino from the coffee machine :P yoghurt and croissant.

After our yummie breakfast, ah keng went to toilet as usual for his morning call XD while i called Shangyuan to tell him to meet us outside St-Micheal's Notre Dame at 10am. Since our hotel is quite near Notre Dame we decide maybe we could take a look ard Cite Metro station which is also quite near our meeting place. Below is the pic of the Court of Justice in Paris.

Surprisingly this day shot of the Seine river is so nice...wah like fake one XD but generally we are quite happy to be greeted wif such beautiful scenery and good weather early in the morning unlike last evening when we arrived all drenched in the rain. ><"

Shangyuan said last time u could buy tix for a single wing for like 6 euros onli which is more worth it because once u are inside u could actually go into other wings de haizz...ang moh system really kinda stupid aiyah now they found out this loophole le we cannot bua chao (play cheat) anymore. Anyway our target in Louvre musuem is to go to Denon Wing where the famous Mona Lisa potrait is kept the rest of the wings are quite interesting too but this Louvre musuem is super damn big think if we wanna look thru everything and enjoy at leisure pace we can easily spend a good 3 days inside no way we are going to do tat man!! so we just take the brouchure see wats recommended and along the way we see got anymore interesting things to look at anot...coz frankly speaking all 4 of us are not very arts arts ppl XDD just look see will do lah aiyoh XD

Paris Trip Day 3 (8 Apr)

After we left the Louvre Museum we went immedialtely to Charles de Gaulle Etiole where we have lunch at Uncle's House --- yes its McDonalds Uncle house XDDD. After lunch abt 2pm, we take a walk along the streets and took some pics with the Arc de Triumph (chinese known as kai xuan men)
L'Arc de Triomphe is the largest triumphal arch in the world. It commemorates Napoleon Bonaparte's many victories, (and apparently ignores his exile and early death). Like La Tour Eiffel, it is a symbol of France as well.

After strolling along the long streets of Champs Elysees, suddenly the skies turned dark damn just like spore's weather no warning one so we decided to seek shelter in one of the cafe along the streets. Turned out cup of tea is super expensive man but okay lah just for experience. Hehehe in the end, Shangyuan father treated us to the tea...god if we have known earlier we would have ordered the most expensive tea in the house le XDDD just kidding lah we r not so cheapskate one XD

Eiffel Tower

Okay the plan is like this. Time now is about 5pm we decide to go up the Eiffel tower take some pics then after that come down to have French dinner somewhere nearby then later take pics again when the sky turns dark. So off we went to queue up for the tickets damn everything has to pay in Paris, each person has to pay like 10.70 euros how come dun have student discount gua? XD

Yummie escargo(boiled snails) starters. Haha i know someone will say ewwwwww but trust me it tastes like the normal shellfish that we eat like mussels and oysters liddat. The whole French crusine dinner costs 18 euros i had sirlion steak and the escargo^^

After the nice nice dinner we went back to the Eiffel Tower to get some nite shots and souvenirs.

bLiNg bLinG Eiffel Tower 'crystal' the blacks who sold us said its crystal but i know its glass lah anyway his starting quoting price is 6 euros i immediately shook my head and say no man 4 euros and i continued to walk dun even look at him straight then he came chasing me and say okie 2 for 10 euros i was like sorry 4 euros deal. He says he no profit i say okay then i buy from yr fren 4 euros then he say oki oki 4 euros XDD ^.^ v yay my bargaining technique neva fails XD hehehe later i also bot some small Eiffel tower keychains tat looked quite cute the same black tat sold me the bling bling wanted to sell me 3 for 1 euro i had a hard time bargaining with him and in the end he decided to give me 7 for 2 euros okay lah better than nothing rite? XD

hehehe actually the bling bling crystal is blinks red and blue periodically but when i use marco shot wif slow shutter speed the red and blue wavelength will mix together to give purple light hehehee simple rite?XD

Greyfriars Bobby

Bobby was the pet of shepherd John Gray who died in 1858. The loyalty of the little Skye terrier was so great that for 14 years the dog lived on his master's grave in Greyfriars Kirkyard.
When Greyfriar's Bobby died in 1872 he was buried in the churchyard close to his master.
A statue of the terrier is now situated on Candlemakers Row, and is one of the most photographed statues in Edinburgh.

For those who visit my blog, beware dun get too green with jealousy if u scroll further down laterwards XDDD just kidding but really if u all get the chance to visit Scotland do do do do go to Skye and the highlands, u will get yr money back if u dun enjoy it XD j/k but yea there are a few guided tours to Skye and the higlands on the internet but the one i strongly recommend is the Wild-in-Scotland agency. Heee...not onli u get good food (italian pasta, indian curry, chinese fried rice) but also super nice accomodation beside beautiful loch and mind u the accomodation quality is something like hotel chalet standards not like those typical cmi hostels XD absolutely champion for a reasonable price of £95 for a 3D/ 2N hassle free tour!!! Me, Win Win and Yew Keng really enjoyed this trip alot and brought back home alot of wonderful memories n nice nice souvenirs and the most impt thing is we made 14 other frens from italy, france, germany, NZ, australia, ireland and last but not least our ever-entertaining tour guide rory from good old bonnie scotland ^^
